The Netherlands all-rounder Roelof van der Merwe has lauded his team's seam bowling attack for being impressive in the T20 World Cup 2022 so far. The likes of Paul van Meekeren have hit the 145 kmph-mark on the speed gun constantly while Fred Klassen has been terrific with the new ball. Brandon Glover was added to the mix and he picked up two wickets against Zimbabwe to help his side to a victory.

All-rounder Bas de Leede has been the highest wicket-taker for the Netherlands in the tournament so far with 11 wickets to his name. Two pacers from the Netherlands feature in the top six wicket-takers of the tournament which is a massive confidence booster going forward for the Dutch side. Despite being ruled out of the semi-finals race of the tournament, the Netherlands will have a great chance to upset South Africa in their final game on Sunday, November 6.

We have to wait for the coach, captain and selectors to make their choices: Roelof van der Merwe

On being asked if there could be any changes to the line-up for the South Africa encounter, van der Merwe mentioned the difference between Zimbabwe and the Proteas in terms of quality and felt they would need more effort. He added that the final call on who plays will be taken by the skipper and the coach. The veteran all-rounder hailed Glover and the Netherlands' seam attack for their better performances so far.

“Actually, we’re just coming off a win against Zimbabwe. These (Zimbabwe and South Africa) are two totally different teams. But we have to wait for the coach, captain and the selectors to make their choices on who takes the field,” Roelof van der Merwe answered to a question from CricTracker reporter Umesh Sharma in the post-match conference.

“I think Brandon has bowled really well during the competition. Our seamers have done really well for us to take us to a competitive position in the game. So I look forward to seeing our seam attack do well again,” he added when asked if Glover will get another chance to play.
