Former England batter Dawid Malan has exited Yorkshire via mutual agreement after spending six seasons with the club. He had joined Yorkshire from Middlesex in 2020 and had been an integral component during his time playing in front of the Headingley crowd.
The left-handed batter expressed his sincere gratitude to general manager of cricket Gavin Hamilton and head coach Anthony McGrath for letting him explore different opportunities elsewhere. Likewise, Hamilton thanked the cricketer for his services and wished him well for his future endeavours moving forward in his career.
"I have enjoyed six happy and successful seasons with Yorkshire, but feel now is the right time for the club to make a fresh start. I am grateful to the general manager of cricket Gavin Hamilton and head coach Anthony McGrath for allowing me to seek a new challenge elsewhere," stated Malan, as quoted by ESPNcricinfo.
"Dawid has been a consistent run-scorer across all formats, and will always be welcome at Headingley. We thank him for his very significant contribution in recent seasons, and we wish him well for the future," noted Hamilton.
Malan had captained the club during the T20 Blast the previous season. He could not prevent them from ending up second from bottom in the North Group regardless of a stellar effort with the bat, registering 365 runs at a strike-rate of 156.65.
He was also the second-leading run-scorer in T20s at Yorkshire during his time there, with 1642 runs to his name. Malan also registered 2014 runs at an average of 54.43 in the First-Class set-up with the county, showing consistent performances for Yorkshire over the years.
