Delhi Capitals’ star batter Ashutosh Sharma made a solid start to his English club cricket stint, smashing a century off just 70 balls on debut for Wigan Cricket Club. The 26-year-old, who flew into the UK on the morning of the game, made a strong debut in the Liverpool and District Cricket Competition on May 31, producing a fighting knock that rescued his team from a poor start.

Having joined Wigan for the 2025 season as part of the ECB Premier League, Ashutosh walked into bat at No. 5 with his team struggling at 17 for 3 in under 10 overs against Formby Cricket Club. The right-hander partnered up with opener Aveen Dalugoda and the pair stitched together a 153-run stand in just 23.4 overs.

Ashutosh smashed eight fours and six towering sixes in his century innings. Batting at a strike rate of nearly 137, he reached the feat in 70 deliveries before falling for exactly 100 in the 34th over. His dismissal triggered a collapse, with Wigan crumbling from 170 for 3 to 241 all out by the 52nd over. Despite his efforts, Formby chased down the target. Meanwhile, in the IPL 2025, he was acquired by DC for INR 3.8 crore and hammered 204 runs at an average of 29.14 and an imposing strike rate of 160.62.
