DC Women Team 2023 Player List: Complete Delhi Capitals (DC) Squad and Players List for WPL 2023

With the wait for the inaugural Women’s Premier League (WPL) auction finally over, the Delhi Capitals had a lacklustre start to the event as the team did not purchase any players for the entirety of the first round. The Delhi-based side went big in the second round though, as they roped in Jemimah Rodrigues, Meg Lanning, and Shafali Verma. 

Rodrigues was going to be one of the biggest names at the auction, and the price at which she was brought in justified that. The captain of the Indian U-19 team, Shafali Verma, will be a huge addition as well for the Delhi Capitals. The team took a very tactical approach at the auction, and despite a slow start, DC gradually found their rhythm and roped in a very strong set of players.

After getting Shafali Verma, DC went for Radha Yadav who was brought into the side for 40 lakhs. Following her arrival, they also brought in Shikha Pandey and Marizanne Kapp for 60 lakh and 1.5 crore, respectively. In what seems to be yet another tactical move, the Delhi Capitals also brought in 18-year-old Titas Sadhu at 25 lakhs to bolster their squad even further.

Delhi Capitals went in for many big names as well

Despite getting names like Shafali Verma and Jemimah Rodrigues in their squad, the Delhi Capitals bid on many names but were unable to bring them in. Stars like Harmanpreet Kaur, Ellyse Perry, and Deepti Sharma were sought after by DC, but the Delhi-based franchise was simply outbid.

The team played their cards very tactically, as they leaned towards the younger talents rather than going straight for the big names. One such name could be 24-year-old Tara Norris from the USA, who has been a star on the domestic circuit. DC will be hoping that she can replicate her domestic form in the WPL
