Delhi Capitals have suffered a huge blow in their Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 campaign, with young batter Deeya Yadav and wicketkeeper Mamatha Madiwala ruled out for the remainder of the season due to injuries. The development comes with the Capitals fighting to stay in playoff contention.

The double injury setback has forced DC to announce Hyderabad seamer Eddla Srujana and Punjab all-rounder Pragati Singh as replacements for the injured duo. Both players have been signed at their base price of INR 10 lakh and have already joined the squad ahead of Delhi’s sixth group-stage match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Vadodara on Saturday, January 24. With only two wins from five matches so far, DC are in a tough spot and need to win all their upcoming games.

Madiwala’s WPL 2026 campaign ended before it could even begin. The wicketkeeper-batter did not feature in a single match this season and was ruled out due to injury. Her absence further thins Delhi’s resources, especially after the pre-tournament withdrawal of Australian all-rounder Annabel Sutherland for personal reasons.

Eddla Srujana has previously served as DC's net bowler

On the other hand, 16-year-old Deeya made history earlier this week by becoming the youngest debutant in WPL history when she featured against the Mumbai Indians in Vadodara at just 16 years and 103 days. Although she neither batted nor bowled in that match after replacing Minnu Mani in the XI.

Meanwhile, Pragati Singh is a seam-bowling all-rounder who represents Punjab in the domestic circuit. She was Punjab’s second-highest run-scorer in the Senior Women’s T20 Trophy, scoring 143 runs at a strike rate of 105.14, and also claimed eight wickets in the previous one-day domestic season.
