Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) mentor and batting coach Dinesh Karthik, on Thursday, September 4, expressed his condolences and extended support to the victims of the tragic stampede outside the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium during the team’s victory celebrations on June 4.
The stampede occurred when an estimated crowd of nearly three lakh people gathered to witness RCB’s maiden Indian Premier League (IPL) trophy celebrations. The incident claimed 11 lives and left more than 50 others injured.

Kohli breaks silence on RCB victory celebrations tragedy
In the aftermath of the tragedy, RCB announced financial assistance of INR 25 lakh each for the families of the deceased. The franchise, along with fans and members of the cricketing fraternity, expressed deep grief and solidarity with those affected.
On Monday, September 1, RCB unveiled the framework of RCB Cares, a long-term initiative dedicated to its fans. The programme aims to support, empower, and uplift the ‘12th Man Army’ through meaningful actions and sustained commitment.
“They were part of us. Part of what makes our city, our community & our team unique. Their absence will echo in the memories of each one of us,” the statement read.
