Shubman Gill-led India secured a commanding 336-run win at Edgabaston in Birmingham during the second Test against England on Sunday, July 6. The victory was led by all-round performances across departments by the Indian team, which helped them level the five-match series 1-1 as the action now moves onto the third Test at the historic Lord's cricket stadium in London.

Meanwhile, former Test cricketer Virat Kohli was supremely elated to see the Indian team shine the brightest despite being without the services of key bowler like Jasprit Bumrah. Kohli praised Shubman Gill for his brilliance with the (269 in the first innings; 161 in the second) followed by a special mention for the India's frontline pacers Mohammed Siraj and Akash Deep for dismantling the English batters with their outstanding spells with the red ball.

"Great victory for India at Edgbaston. Fearless and kept pushing England to the wall. Brilliantly led by Shubhman with the bat and in the field and impactful performances from everyone. Special mention to Siraj and Akash for the way they bowled on this pitch," Virat shared on his official 'X' handle after the victory.

We were spot on: Shubman Gill

Meanwhile, skipper Shubman was equally content with the way his troops went ahead with the game in Birmingham, especially after facing a disappointing loss in the series opener at Headingley. The 25-year-old told that the unit had discussed a few plans coming into the game from the loss, and executed them with sheer perfection. Bowling and fielding, as compared to the previous one, was brilliant to see, according to the Fazilka-born.

"All the things we spoke about after the last game, we were spot on with all of those things. I think the way we came back with our bowling and fielding was tremendous to see. On this kind of wicket we knew that if we got 400-500 runs, it would be enough. Not every game will be like Headingley," Gill, who was also the Player of the Match, told on air during the post-match presentation.
