Shubman Gill has mesmerised the cricket fraternity with his surreal display talent and mindset during the recently-concluded Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy against England in the United Kingdom. The Punjab batter captained the Indian team from the front as the Asian giants finished with a 2-2 draw against a more experienced England side.

When Gill was appointed as the captain of the Test team ahead of the tour, he was averaging around 35. Some critics questioned his appointment, saying that he had not been able to live up to his expectations as a batter in the longest format of the game. However, Gill toppled several records during the series and finishing with a staggering tally of 754 runs in five Tests at an average of 75.40. He was adjudged India's Player of the Series after scoring the most runs across the five Tests.

Former India head coach Ravi Shastri feels that Shubman, who is just 25 years old, will only get better as he gains more experience. Shastri also predicted that the right-handed batter will serve Indian cricket for a very long time.

"He'll be around for a long, long time because we've seen what kind of series he's had here. I think he's only 25 years of age, and as you know, with this exposure, he'll get even better," Shastri said while speaking to Sky Sports.

He's right up there, he will be up there: Shastri

Shastri opined that Gill has a regal touch about him and mentioned how easy he is to the eyes because of his fluency as a batter.

"He's right up there, he will be up there. He's composed, he's very regal, he's got that, you know, when you look at him, there's something regal about him. The way he bats, he's very easy on the eye, very fluent, and he has the ability to play the long innings," said Shastri.
