England batting coach Marcus Trescothick didn't rule out the possibility of playing for a draw on the final day of the second Test against India at Edgbaston, Birmingham, as the Three Lions need a whopping 536 runs to win with seven wickets in hand.

Ever since Brendon McCullum became the head coach of the England Test team, and formed a partnership with captain Ben Stokes, the European nation has been known to chase down totals in the fourth innings. They have not been shy of going after steep targets. They chased down a 371-run target against India in the first Test. However, because of the near-improbable target they have in front of themselves heading into Day 5 of the second Test, Trescothick suggested that playing for a draw is a plan they will not rule out.

“I think that whenever the situation is challenging, of course it is. I think, if you get to the point where you can draw the game, of course. We're not stupid enough to understand that, you have to just win or lose, there are 3 results possible in every game that you play. But we have done some things in our time that we are different to what we've done it before, so we'll see what happens,” said Trescothick at the press conference at the end of the day’s play.

“I don't think we use that sort of language. It's not the sort of change room that we are, but we're not naive enough to know that it's a very challenging total that you sort of play. Do you just go in your bunker and just sort of dig it out and you know some players may do that. You just don't know really it's individuals that can sort of adapt to the game and understand what's happening, but you know you've got to understand our changing room. Is a different type of culture in terms of to what we've done in the past,” he added.

England are chasing a whopping 608-run target after India declared at 427/6 in their second innings. Mohammed Siraj took the wicket of Zak Crawley, while Akash Deep dismissed Ben Duckett and Joe Root before England scrambled to 72/3 in 16 overs at Stumps on Day 4.
