Rishabh Pant has been in sensational form in the ongoing Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025. However, injuries have been a major impediment in his way. In the third Test in London, he hurt his hand while trying to stop a ball from Jasprit Bumrah on Day 1. The 27-year-old could not keep wickets in the clash as Dhruv Jurel had to take the responsibility. However, Pant batted in both innings and registered scores of 74 and nine.
On Day 1 of the second Test at Old Trafford, Manchester, Pant was playing a promising knock as he got to 37 runs in quick time. However, in the final session, he attempted to play an audacious reverse sweep against Chris Woakes, and the ball hit him flush on the right foot. The Delhi cricketer was seen limping in agony as the physio tried to assess his condition. Pant couldn't continue batting as he was taken out of the stadium premises in an ambulance, and Sai Sudharsan confirmed at the end of Day 1 that he underwent scans.
During the first session on Day 2, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) put out a tweet to confirm that Pant will not be available to keep wickets as he has sustained an injury to his right foot, and Jurel will once again don the gloves. However, the apex body mentioned that Pant has joined the team on Day 2 and will go out in the middle to bat when he is needed.
