England have announced their playing XI for the first ODI against India, scheduled to be played on Tuesday, July 14, at Edgbaston in Birmingham. The match marks the beginning of the three-match ODI series between the two sides.
England will be led by Harry Brook, who enters the series high on confidence after guiding his team to a dominant 4-0 victory over India in the recently concluded T20I series.
The hosts have made only a couple of changes to the side that featured in the T20Is, with Ben Duckett and Joe Root returning to the XI to add experience and stability. As expected, Jacob Bethell will open the batting alongside Duckett.
Meanwhile, Jos Buttler is set to achieve a significant milestone, as the wicketkeeper-batter will make his 200th ODI appearance for England. Buttler made his ODI debut against Pakistan in Dubai on February 21, 2012.

India head into the upcoming series determined to put their recent T20I series defeat behind them and make a strong statement. The Men in Blue have already shown promising signs of form under the leadership of Shubman Gill, who recently guided the team to a convincing 3-0 ODI series sweep over Afghanistan. That dominant performance highlighted India's depth, composure, and ability to perform consistently, giving the squad plenty of confidence ahead of the new challenge.
For this series, India will also be boosted by the return of several experienced campaigners. Captain Rohit Sharma brings leadership and explosive batting at the top of the order, while Virat Kohli's consistency and ability to anchor the innings add immense value to the batting lineup.
KL Rahul offers versatility in the middle order and provides a reliable wicketkeeping option, further strengthening the team. Meanwhile, Jasprit Bumrah's return significantly enhances India's bowling attack, with his pace, accuracy, and ability to deliver in crucial moments making him one of the world's most dangerous fast bowlers.
