ENG-W vs IND-W 2025: India announce squads for white-ball tour, Shafali Verma returns to T20I setup

The Indian women’s cricket team will take on England in five T20Is and three ODI matches. The series opener is set to take place at Trent Bridge, Nottingham, on June 28. On Thursday, May 15, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced squads for the white-ball assignments.

The T20I team has undergone 10 changes. The last time they played a T20I was on December 19, 2024, against the West Indies in Navi Mumbai. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur, Smriti Mandhana, wicketkeeper Richa Ghosh, Jemimah Rodrigues and all-rounder Deepti Sharma have only managed to retain their place from the squad featured in the West Indies series.

Shafali Verma, Yastika Bhatia, Harleen Deol, Sneh Rana, Sree Charani, Shuchi Upadhyay, Amanjot Kaur, Arundhati Reddy, Kranti Gaud and Sayali Satghare have been named in the squad for the T20I series in England, replacing Uma Chetry, Nandini Kashyap, Raghvi Bist, Sajeevan Sajana, Minnu Mani, Priya Mishra, Renuka Singh, Titas Sadhu, Saima Thakor and Radha Yadav.

As far as the ODI side is concerned, the selectors have not made any tweaks to the 15-member squad that won the recently concluded tri-series in Colombo involving Sri Lanka and South Africa.

The impending three ODIs in England will help the Indian women’s team prepare well for the Women’s ODI World Cup 2025, which is set to be played in India in September-October. England are a formidable outfit, especially at home. They are set to host the West Indies, who are going to play three T20Is and as many ODIs before the series against India.
