The year 2021 saw a new tournament, The Hundred, being introduced to the cricketing world. One of the popular teams of the franchise league is the London Spirit, which is owned by the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC), which has recently appointed former England skipper Eoin Morgan to the board of directors.
The franchise has also got a new investor in the Tech Titans, which is a consortium of Silicon Valley technology entrepreneurs led by Nikesh Arora, the chief executive of cybersecurity firm Palo Alto Networks. The company bid £144.55m for a 49% stake in the franchise. The addition of Morgan could be a huge positive since he has also led the franchise in the first two seasons of the tournament.
In addition to Eoin Morgan, the MCC also appointed Rob Lawson, their chief executive and secretary, and incoming committee member Julian Metherell to the London Spirit board, but has yet to choose its final director. Metherell emerged as a key figure during the investment process and was personally thanked by chair Mark Nicholas for his role in negotiations after the Titans' investment.

Performance of London Spirit in The Hundred
While some big stars feature within the London Spirit team, the men's team is yet to win a title. The best performance from the franchise came in 2022, where they finished third in the tournament after losing the eliminator against the Manchester Originals. The last two seasons were disappointing for the team.
Speaking of the women's team, the franchise had won its first title last year under the leadership of Heather Knight. While Knight was also the highest run-getter for the team with 271 runs at an average of 45.16, English leg-spinner Sarah Glenn emerged as their highest wicket-taker with 13 wickets at an average of 17 and an economy of 6.80.
