Shane Watson reckons that the die-hard cricket fans could get yet another opportunity to witness a mouth-watering contest between arch-rivals India and Pakistan, but this time in the final of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 at the MCG on Sunday, November 13.

The Super 12 encounter between these two sides a couple of weeks ago saw the Men in Blue register a final ball thriller by four wickets with Ravichandran Ashwin hitting the winning runs and Virat Kohli remaining unbeaten till the very end scoring a blistering 82 runs off just 53 deliveries.

Everyone would love to see it again: Shane Watson

"Everyone would love to see Pakistan and India in the final," an excited Watson was quoted as saying by the official website of T20 World Cup.

"I unfortunately missed that first (Super 12) game at the MCG, as I commentated the game previously between Australia and New Zealand”, he added.

"But from all reports, all the people that went along to that game said it was something very special and the game was obviously an amazing game to watch on TV as well. They played in the T20 World Cup final in 2007 and everyone would love to see it again," the former Australian all-rounder further added.

However, for that dream clash to happen both teams must first win their respective semifinal encounters against New Zealand and England on November 9 and 10.

Pakistan would be oozing with confidence as they have a good record against the Kiwis in ICC knockouts. Their clash is scheduled to take place at the SCG.

India and England on the other hand would be meeting each other in a World Cup knockout fixture after 35 years.  As far as their ICC knockouts meeting is concerned, the Men in Blue had beaten England in the final of the ICC Champions Trophy in 2013.  The second semifinal will be contested at the Adelaide Oval.

Should India and Pakistan make it to the final, this will be their second encounter in the summit clash of the marquee tournament. The two teams had locked horns in the final of the inaugural edition in South Africa in 2007 where the MS Dhoni-led side survived a scare from Misbah-ul-Haq to emerge triumphant.
