The Indian Premier League (IPL) Chairman Arun Dhumal stated that the official celebrations for RCB had concluded the previous night and that the league authorities were unaware of any further events taking place in Bengaluru. Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) finally lifted their maiden IPL trophy after 18 years, defeating Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the IPL 2025 final held on June 3 in Ahmedabad.

But, what was meant to be a moment of celebration turned into a tragedy during the victory celebrations held in Bengaluru, where a stampede claimed 11 lives and left several others injured. Dhumal clarified that all ceremonies and festivities officially endorsed by the team and the IPL were completed the earlier night. The unexpected and unofficial crowd gathering in Bengaluru to celebrate RCB's historic win went into chaos which resulted in the tragic loss of lives.

“For the BCCI, the IPL ended last night. Whatever celebrations were to happen, it culminated with the ceremony that we had last night. Now how this incident took place, we have no knowledge of it. We had no idea of this kind of event taking place in Bengaluru,” said Dhumal to India Today.

Immediately upon being made aware of the situation, we promptly amended our program, and followed, the guidance and advice of the local administration. We urge all our supporters to please stay safe," it said further.
