Team India concluded their T20 World Cup 2022 campaign with a massive loss to England in the semi-final fixture at the Adelaide Oval. The 2011 World Cup winner and legend of the sport, Sachin Tendulkar backed the Men in Blue to regroup after the humongous defeat they endured at the hands of the Three Lions.

The side has been at the receiving end of a lot of criticism as they were believed to be the favourites to win the tournament Down Under. India did well to make a spot into the semi-finals after four victories in Super 12 stage, but they were outplayed in the knockout clash against England to crash out. However, Tendulkar has opined that judgements must not be passed on the basis of one game as he backed the side to make a comeback.

“To get to that Number 1 spot, it does not happen overnight. The team has to play good cricket over a period of time and it has done that. Let us not judge our team on the basis of this performance. Players also did not want to go out and fail. In sports, these ups and downs are there. We have to be in it together,” Tendulkar was quoted by India Today.

Rohit Sharma-led team India played sensational cricket in the Super 12 stage losing just one match to South Africa. Tendulkar further voiced that the total set by the Men in Blue at the Adelaide Oval was below-par.

“I know that the semi-final against England was very disappointing. Let us accept that we did not put up a good total on the board. 168 in Adelaide Oval is not great since the dimensions of the ground are entirely different and the side boundaries are really short. We were also unsuccessful in taking wickets. It was a tough game for us, a bad and disappointing defeat,” Tendulkar opined.
