Smriti Mandhana captained the Indian Women's side against Nepal in the final league game of the Women’s Asia Cup 2024 as Harmanpreet Kaur was rested. However, the India captain returned to the side for the semi-final clash against Bangladesh on July 26. At the toss, Harmanpreet was in a dicey situation as she could not recall the changes in the playing XI.
She recalled the changes as Uma Chetry debuted in her maiden Asia Cup 2024 game replacing Dayalan Hemalatha. Pooja Vastrakar, who was also rested against Nepal returned to the side at the expense of Arundhati Reddy. Sajeevan Sajana had to vacate her place as Harmanpreet returned to the side. While at the toss, the right-handed batter stressed capitalizing the powerplay to hold a grasp on the game.
"We have played really good cricket so far. Today also we want to back ourselves. Powerplay is always important whether you are batting first or second. They are a good side, they always good competition. For us, we need to focus on what we've been doing so far. We have a few changes," Harmanpreet said at the toss.

“Our bowlers did a great job. Whatever we spoke in the team meeting, they did the same. Really proud of the way they are bowling. A lot of pressure on us because we have been dominating Asian cricket. For us, things are simple. We want to go out there and express. We prepare ourselves hard in the nets,” said Harmanpreet after the game.
