‘He thinks he can hit every ball’ - David Warner lauds Jake Fraser-McGurk

The Australian team has been well-known to produce sensational talents. Many players who have represented the national team have gone on to become legends: Steve Smith, Ricky Ponting, and Brett Lee, just to name a few. The same continues to be a trend as they never seem to run out of talented individuals.

The newest sensation in the Australian cricket system is 21-year-old Jake Fraser-Mcgurk, who recently recorded the fastest limited-over century, in 29 balls, during the Marsh Cup match against Tasmania. He also impressed heavily on his international debut against the West Indies, scoring 41 runs in 18 deliveries in the third ODI. 

The youngster has managed to make a place in veteran David Warner’s good books as the veteran opener lauded the 21-year-old for his performances and opined that he believes he can hit every ball for a boundary.

"He thinks that he can hit every ball for a four or a six, he has a clear mind, he plays with freedom and you need people like that in every team. He is great to have in the team,” Warner was quoted as saying by IndiaToday.

Warner also highlighted how Fraser-McGurk could go a long way in international cricket if he continues the same way. He also opined that if he gets the chance in the ODI side, he could be a first-team player for the next decade or so. 

"The more exposure he gets at the highest level, if he gets an opportunity in the ODI team he can certainly be a 10-year-player. He will go a long way if he can back himself, he certainly has the skillset for that," Warner said.

His performances could throw him in contention for a spot in Australia’s squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024, which will be co-hosted by the USA and the West Indies.
