After having a pretty average year in international cricket, Cameron Green got dropped from the Australia squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup. However, with David Warner not being a part of the squad and Mitch Marsh being ruled out, the 23-year-old got the opportunity to represent the Kangaroos against India and that’s exactly when he unleashed himself and showed his calibre.

Green with 118 runs was the leading run-scorer in the recently concluded three-match T20I series against India and also picked a wicket in the first T20I at Mohali. Even though the all-rounder is not part of the Australia squad for the global event, his teammate in the national squad, Mitchell Marsh is not surprised to see the young cricketer do well on his first visit to India. He’s aware of Green’s potential and knows the talent he possesses.

“People from the outside might be surprised but no one's surprised internally. He's a super talent. He was given a role to go out and be really aggressive. Most importantly for me, it's the unselfishness he's got incredible skill, but for a young guy who hasn't got a cemented spot in that team to play fearless cricket, that shows more about him than his actual skill,” said Marsh as quoted by cricket.com.au.

To have someone like him not in your team shows how good we are: Marsh on Australia’s squad depth

The defending champions Australia are definitely one of the hot favourites to lift the world title once again and Mitch Marsh, one of their dependable stars feels that it’s the depth of the squad that makes the team a champion side.

“To have someone like him not in your team, it shows how good we are. We're the defending world champions for a reason,” the 30-year-old said.

After an ankle injury in the Zimbabwe series, Marsh missed the T20I series against India. Batting at number three, the all-rounder played a pivotal role for Australia in the last T20 World Cup and thus, his fitness is a matter of concern for the Australian team. However, he has recovered on time and is likely to be back in action against the West Indies.

“I'm feeling great. The ankle over the last 10 days has come along really well. I'm back running, doing everything so I'm looking forward to getting stuck in,” said Marsh.
