Former Indian batter and expert Wasim Jaffer is surprised by Aaron Finch's captaincy in the ongoing 2022 T20 World Cup. The defending champions Australia saw their latest match against Ireland which they won comfortably by a margin of 42 runs.

Jaffer has said that Finch looks a little confused with his bowling plans. The former Indian batter stated that Finch has used a lot of options in the death overs and that has taken a negative effect on Australia's campaign in the tournament.

I am surprised by his plans as he has made a lot of changes: Wasim Jaffer on Finch

"I am surprised with Finch's captaincy as he bowled two overs from Pat Cummins in the death overs and gave only one over to Mitchell Starc in the field restrictions. I am surprised by his plans and he made a lot of changes during the death overs," Jaffer said at Bat Bricks presents Run ki Runeeti only on Crictracker.

Jaffer opined that Finch has gone with Cummins to bowl the death overs, but he has been bowling poorly and Starc also looks out of touch.

"There's not a settled bowling pair for Australia in death overs. Josh Hazlewood has been bowling consistently in the death overs, but we have seen Cummins, Starc, and even Stoinis bowling the death overs for Australia. It is kind of surprising as we all know that Cummins leaks run in the death overs, Starc has also not looked at his best so far," Jaffer added.

The defending champions had a very poor start to their campaign after they lost their first match against the New Zealand. The home team bounced back well and defeated Sri Lanka in their next group stage match before their encounter against England got abandoned due to the rain. Australia  will face Afghanistan in their next encounter slated to be played on November 4.
