Time and time again, the cricket world takes part in several debates and discussions on who is the greatest spinner of all time - Muttiah Muralidaran or Shane Warne, and never come to the right conclusion. Well, in terms of stats, Muralidaran is ahead in the race but Warne has been more impactful in overseas conditions. Thus, discussions never convert into fruitful conclusions.

With Warne passing away in early 2022, the cricketing world is still in shock and Muralidaran, his long-time rival, still gets emotional while talking about him. The former Sri Lankan international while speaking about Warne mentioned that the leg-spinner was probably better than him and that he misses him a lot.

“I think he was better than me, when I was playing I looked up to him and learnt things from him. We all miss him,” Muralidaran was quoted as saying by India Today.

Warne has 1001 international wickets to his name while Muralidaran has 1347 international wickets to his name. The duo also played a lot of cricket together for charity events in the USA.

He's a great T20 bowler: Muttiah Muralidaran on Wanindu Hasaranga

Moving further in the conversation, the Lankan great heaped praises on current star spinner from his nation, Wanindu Hasaranga. Hasaranga was a runaway match winner for Sri Lanka in the recently concluded Asia Cup and for his game-changing deliveries, Hasaranga was also adjudged as the Player of the Tournament. With his brilliance with the ball, Sri Lanka managed to defeat Pakistan on the night of the finals and won their sixth Asia Cup title in history.

Muralidaran, who himself won the trophy three times, was impressed with Hasaranga’s performance. He believes that in the upcoming T20 World Cup in Australia, Hasaranga can be a dangerous weapon for Dasun Shanaka.

“He's a great T20 bowler. Last 2-3 years, he's done really well. He's a young guy," Muralitharan said while talking about Hasaranga. In Australia, definitely the leg spinner will have more chances then finger spinners. He will be a difficult opponent to bat against. You have to be very careful against him,” said the legendary spinner before taking on Indian Maharajas in the Legends League Cricket.
