Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya has highlighted his urge to keep playing more cricket for India and win many more trophies both in ICC tournaments and in the IPL, as India lifted their third T20 World Cup trophy in Ahmedabad against New Zealand.

The Baroda cricketer has been reliable throughout the tournament, with 217 runs striking at a rate of 160.74. He has two half-centuries, against Zimbabwe and Namibia, and also picked up nine wickets throughout the tournament.

"It sounds very good that I am a senior player now. But I have 10 more years of cricket in me. I have played only half of my career so far; half is left. I would like to win 10 more trophies in total, including ICC and IPL. But ICC trophies are the most important for me. I would want to win anything that I play. In the next 10 years, I would definitely win five or six more. Losing was never in my mind. I would like to thank God," he said.

This is why I've played cricket: Hardik

Hardik spoke about how he plays the game with the objective of winning trophies as a validation for the hard work and effort he puts in behind the scenes. He concluded by speaking of the hard work he has put in and the constant support from his partner Maheika Sharma.

"This is the victory I have always lived for. This is why I have played cricket. I want to win trophies. I want to win as many trophies as I can. In 2024, I had said that whatever trophies play for, I will win. And I believe that. This trophy is a validation of that," said Hardik.

"There is a lot of hard work. There is not only talk, but there is a lot of hard work. Work hard, stay silent, be a good person. Since Maheika has come into my life, I have only been winning," he added.

As a senior player, more responsibility lies on Hardik’s shoulders as India’s focus now shifts towards the 2027 ODI World Cup, the only white-ball championship left in the star cricketer's legacy.
