'If you’re an RCB fan, you have a lot to cheer about' - Eoin Morgan opines on team's successful IPL 2025 campaign

With the IPL 2025 season heading towards its business end, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have come out to be one of the most consistent and dangerous sides. With 14 points from 10 matches and second spot on the points table, RCB are on the brink of sealing a playoff berth. Former England captain Eoin Morgan praised RCB’s aggressive approach, top-order intent, and bowling depth as major reasons behind their success.
Morgan mentioned that the new additions to RCB's squad have paid huge dividends with the team banking on their attacking mindset, especially in away games, where they are unbeaten this season and have found success in every department.
“I think RCB has done a lot of things right. One of the things I’ve really enjoyed watching this year is Phil Salt at the top of the order, along with Virat Kohli, the way they’ve gone about their business. I know Phil has missed out recently, and Jacob has come in, but the aggression they showed at the top allowed them to carry the same mentality through the middle order. It’s not always about the volume of runs, but how they’ve built momentum, especially away from home, and then returned to Chinnaswamy to get their first win," he said on JioStar.

RCB’s change this year is not just about the batters. Their bowling unit, consisting of Australian pacer Josh Hazlewood, has been instrumental. Hazlewood has bagged 18 wickets in 10 games at an average of 17.27 and an economy of 8.44 and is leading the wicket-takers’ list.
“Their bowling has also been impressive, particularly Josh Hazlewood. One of the best Test bowlers in the world applying himself in T20 cricket, like he did for CSK in 2021, shows how he’s become a brilliant multi-format player. If you’re an RCB fan, you have a lot to cheer about, especially with the kind of cricket they’re playing heading into the playoffs,” Morgan added.
In the mega auction, the side invested heavily in the Indian core of Devdutt Padikkal, Krunal Pandya, Jitesh Sharma, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who have supported the overseas stars and senior players like Virat Kohli and skipper Rajat Patidar. Kohli, with four fifties in his last five innings, has smashed 443 runs in the season.
