Alana King is part of Australia Women’s T20I squad for the India tour which starts on December 9, with all the five games scheduled in Mumbai. The 27-year-old has had a fantastic year since she broke into the Australian squad and will get her first chance to play an international game in India.

Notably, King’s parents, Leroy and Sharon were born in Chennai, however they moved to Melbourne before the birth of their child. Notably, King visited her cousins and family in 2016 and has been in contact with them despite living in Australia.

The Australian star has been in the form of her life having played a massive part in her team’s success in the Women's 50-over World Cup and the Commonwealth Games this year. The leg-spinner wouldn’t have got a better time to play in front of her extended family.

Would be cool for the family to see me play cricket: Alana King

King expressed excitement about meeting her friends and cousins during the India tour and also shared the conversations with them earlier. She was convinced about getting loads of messages in WhatsApp ahead of the game from her friends and family.

"A few family friends might be making the trip. There are a few in Mumbai. Hopefully I get to see them and they get to see me play in the flesh. That will be cool,” King was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo.

"When I do speak to them it is like nothing has changed and that could be a few months apart. And that would be cool for them to see me play cricket. I am sure WhatsApp will start blowing up close to the game," she added.

King further opened up on the prospect of being a part of the Women's IPL, which is slated to start next year. "It's pretty much at the forefront of everyone's mind that there is an IPL coming up. Everyone would love to put their hand up for it. It's going to be big, and quite big. Everyone has been crying out for it for some time. It won't just help the international game, but the domestic game as well. It's going to be great and hopefully I can get the tap on the shoulder. But it's all focus on Mumbai for now."
