The legendary Yuvraj Singh playfully trolled his disciple, Abhishek Sharma, after the latter narrowly missed out on breaking his record for the fastest half-century in T20Is on Sunday, January 25. During the third T20I between India and New Zealand at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati, Abhishek slammed a 14-ball 50 to pave the way for the Men in Blue to chase down a 154-run target.
However, he couldn't break his mentor Yuvraj's record for the fastest fifty in T20Is. The former India cricketer slammed a 12-ball half-century against England at Kingsmead, Durban, during the 2007 T20 World Cup. Following his breathtaking knock, Yuvraj posted a tweet poking fun at the youngster before praising his match-winning effort. This little message from the stalwart exhibited the warm bond he shares with India's latest batting sensation.
"Still can’t get a 50 off 12 balls, can you? 🤪 Well played - keep going strong!" Yuvraj, who is a former T20 World Cup and two-time Indian Premier League winner posted on 'X' (formerly Twitter).

Apart from Abhishek, who remained unbeaten on 68 off 20 balls, Suryakumar Yadav also smashed 57 not out off 26 deliveries as India chased down the 154-run target in 10 overs, with eight wickets to spare.
“That’s what my team wants from me and I just want to execute all the time. But obviously, it’s not easy to do it every time, but I think it’s all about mental as well and the atmosphere you get around your dressing room as well,” he said.
With this comprehensive performance, the Men in Blue bagged the T20I series with two more games left to play. Suryakumar and Co. have an unassailable 3-0 lead. The fourth T20I is set to be played at the ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam on Wednesday, January 28.
