Mohammed Siraj has shared how he found out the wobble seam delivery and the usage of that particular variation. Siraj was India's best bowler against West Indies in the first innings of the series-opening Test in Ahmedabad as his figures read 4/40 in 14 overs.

Siraj admitted that while he only recently got to know the terminology, he had been regularly bowling the wobble seam delivery whenever there was a lack of in-swing on any particular occasion.

“When my in-swing stopped, I automatically started generating out-swing. Then, I realised that this is what is called ‘wobble seam’. I kept putting it in practice. I have just heard of the term 'wobble seam'. I have been tilting the seam a little and have been bowling like that," stated Siraj, as quoted by The Indian Express.

The right-arm quick also explained how the wobble seam delivery paid rich dividends to him while bowling at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Thursday, October 2 since the ball was not doing a lot in the air.

“When the out-swing is not working, then my wobble seam will work more. Till now, it has given me the same success. I am enjoying that thing. And as it was today’s wicket, the ball was not swinging that much. I thought that it is seaming here. Hence, I felt the wobble seam delivery will be more effective. So, I stuck more on it; the wobble seam,” he added.

Siraj also reflected on the effort it took for him to end up with four scalps to his name. He emphasised that there were no free wickets on offer and that he had to toil for each of the wickets.

“I get wickets by working hard. I got wickets by working hard in England as well. Here also, I worked hard. It is not like mujhe free ke wickets diye, mujhe wicket kisine aise hi nahi diya. I had to work hard to get those four wickets,” he pointed out.
