Star Indian captain Shubman Gill once again stole the spotlight in Delhi, not just with his bat, but also with a viral fan moment.

During the second Test against the West Indies at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, a female fan in the stands held up a placard reading “I love you Shubman”, recreating the iconic “I love you Zaheer” moment from years ago. The cameras quickly caught the sign, with the clip going viral on social media.

Meanwhile, the 26-year-old continued his purple patch in red-ball cricket, scoring a magnificent 129 not out off 196 balls, his 10th Test hundred and fifth as captain. He also equalled Virat Kohli’s record for the most Test hundreds by an Indian captain in a calendar year and surpassed Rohit Sharma’s tally. His knock, laced with 16 fours and two sixes, anchored the home team's first-innings total of 518 for five declared.

Gill’s innings came on the back of a strong contribution by Yashasvi Jaiswal’s 175 and B Sai Sudharsan’s 87. The duo’s efforts ensured the team dominated proceedings right from Day 1. Dhruv Jurel (44) and Nitish Kumar Reddy (43) also played valuable cameos before Gill decided to declare the innings midway through Day 2, immediately after Jurel’s dismissal.

In reply, the West Indies reached 87 for 2 after 28 overs, still trailing by 437 runs. Alick Athanaze (38) and Tagenarine Chanderpaul (34) stabilized the innings after John Campbell (10) was dismissed, caught off B Sai Sudharsan’s helmet at short leg. For India, Ravindra Jadeja picked both the wickets, giving India a good chance to finish Day 2 well.
