IPL 2023: Royal Challengers Bangalore Retained Players, Released Players & Purse Remaining ahead of Mini Auction

One of the most popular franchises in the Indian Premier League is the Royal Challengers Bangalore and they have a huge fan following. The franchise is yet to win an IPL trophy since the maiden edition and they have been chasing it for a long time now. They do have a great think tank and will ensure they pick the right players into the setup in the IPL Auction 2023.

They spent a total of INR 55.45 Crores in the mega auction last year while retaining Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell and Mohammad Siraj for a total of INR 33 Crores ahead of the auction. After the IPL 2022 season, they had INR 1.55 Crore left in their purse. Royal Challengers Bangalore finished fourth in the points table after the league stages of IPL 2022. They managed to get past the Lucknow Super Giants in the eliminator but lost to the Rajasthan Royals in the Qualifier two to end their campaign in the IPL 2022 season. 

Coming to the previous season, Faf du Plessis was named the skipper of the franchise and the veteran batter ended up as the top-run scorer for RCB. Virat Kohli had a surprisingly below par season while Rajat Patidar and Dinesh Karthik enjoyed their run last year. In terms of RCB bowlers, Wanindu Hasaranga ended up as the second highest-wicket taker in the tournament. Josh Hazlewood and Harshal Patel did have a good season and overall, RCB would have been happy with the performances of their bowlers.  

Ahead of the mini-auction, Royal Challengers Bangalore traded Australian left-arm seamer Jason Behrendorff to Mumbai Indians. Behrendorff was bought by the RCB franchise for INR 75 Lakhs but he did not play a single game in the previous edition. He has joined his previous franchise Mumbai Indians now for IPL 2023.
