IPL 2024: Lucknow Super Giants 1st innings highlights against DC in Match 26

Ayush Badoni's half-century and KL Rahul's 39 help LSG reach 167/7 in 20 overs after Kuldeep Yadav wreaked havoc with the ball.

Lucknow Super Giants posted a good score of 167/7 in their allotted 20 overs against Delhi Capitals (DC) during Match 26 of the Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL 2024) on Friday, April 12 at BRSABV Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. Ayush Badoni was the star of the show for the hosts as the 24-year-old notched up the third half-century of his IPL career. For Delhi, Kuldeep Yadav starred with the ball picking up a three-wicket haul in the middle overs.

KL Rahul keeps run rate in check in early overs

After winning the toss and opting to bat first, captain KL Rahul made sure his team got off to a good start scoring 30 off 14 balls in the powerplay. Quinton de Kock also chipped in with 19 (13) helping LSG post 57/2 in the powerplay. For Delhi, Khaleel Ahmed dismissed both De Kock and Devdutt Padikkal to give two early strikes for his side.

Kuldeep Yadav runs through Lucknow’s middle order

Making a comeback in the side after three games, Kuldeep resumed his usual services as he dismantled Lucknow’s middle over sending big hitters Marcus Stoinis (8 off 10) and Nicholas Pooran (0 off 1) back into the pavilion in his first over itself. The left-arm spinner further got rid of captain KL Rahul (39 off 22) in the 10th over as LSG finished on 80/5 after 10 overs.

Seamers pile on the misers after Kuldeep Yadav’s spell

After Kuldeep dismantled Lucknow’s middle order, seamers Ishant Sharma and Mukesh Kumar also chipped in with wickets to leave LSG in all sorts of trouble. Ishant dismissed Hooda as he holed out to David Warner while Mukesh made Krunal Pandya edge one to wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant to leave LSG on 94/7 after 13 overs.

Ayush Badoni and Arshad Khan do the repair job

Lucknow were staring down the barrel after 13 overs and reaching even 130 form there seemed a herculean task. However, Arshad Khan and Ayush Badoni made sure Lucknow’s bowlers have enough to defend as they got involved in massive unbeaten 73-run stand off 42 balls to help their side finish on 167/7 in 20 overs. Badoni remained unbeaten on 55* (35) with the help of five fours and a six while Arshad scored 20* (16) with the help of two fours.
