IPL 2024: Rajasthan Royals Retained Players, Released Players, & Purse Remaining ahead of Mini Auction

The 17th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is looming on the horizon, and with the deadline for the trades and retention arriving, the side have done well to keep the big names in their side and even bring in new names to further bolster their side.

Inaugural season champions Rajasthan Royals were also involved in a trade as they traded star Indian batter Devdutt Padikkal to Lucknow Super Giants in exchange of Pacer Avesh Khan. With Avesh’s arrival in the side, an extra pacer could further bolster the side, and it could be interesting to see if the side can go all the way and clinch their second IPL title. 

With the trade, it was also recently announced that star English batter Joe Root will be opting out of the IPL 2024, and playing a few games for Rajasthan in 2023, Root’s absence will surely be felt in the camp. 

Furthermore, with the trade and retention deadline set for November 26, it is interesting to see the players who have been retained for the Royals ahead of the prestigious tournament. Skipper Sanju Samson and big names like Jos Buttler could once again feature for the Royals. 

In the IPL 2023, the side barely missed out on making it to the knockout stages of the tournament. Finishing in fifth place with 14 points in 14 games, Rajasthan missed out on the knockout stages as Mumba Indians occupied the fourth place in the standings. 

However, with the releases and retentions. Alongside some potential new played from the mini auction, the one-time champions will be keen on having an improved season.
