The 18th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is set to conclude with its final to be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on June 3. The decision was finalised by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) during a series of meetings held on Tuesday, May 20.

This year’s IPL schedule had to be rearranged due to a 10-day suspension caused by cross-border tensions between India and Pakistan which impacted the flow of the tournament and the availability of several players.

This will be the third time the Narendra Modi Stadium hosts an IPL final. The first was in 2022, which was the venue’s debut as a host in the cash-rich league. The second was in 2023. Alongside the final, the stadium will also host Qualifier 2 on June 1.

As for the rest of the playoffs, BCCI has decided to host the Qualifier 1 and the Eliminator at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, New Chandigarh. These two matches are scheduled for May 29 and May 30, respectively.

The significant factor in selecting these venues was the rainy conditions, which has begun to affect the games in several parts of the country already. The BCCI aims to reduce the rain interruptions during these knockout fixtures.

The IPL 2025 enters its final leg, with three teams, Gujarat Titans (GT), Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), and Punjab Kings (PBKS) having already secured their spots in the playoffs. These teams are currently battling for the top two positions to earn the crucial advantage of an extra opportunity to reach the final.

Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians (MI) and Delhi Capitals (DC) are still in contention for the remaining playoff spot, with nine remaining league fixtures left to be played in the final stage of the tournament.
