A catch taken smartly by Priyansh Arya brought about the end of a well-set Tilak Varma in Qualifier 2 of the IPL 2025 between Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad on Sunday, June 1. Tilak had to head back to the pavilion after scoring 44 off 29 deliveries, an innings which comprised two fours and as many sixes.
A slower leg-cutter by Kyle Jamieson did the trick for Tilak, who was completely deceived by the variation. Tilak miscued his shot, which he intended to hit straight over the bowler's head. Arya and the fielder at long-off converged towards the ball. However, it was the Punjab-born, who sprinted across to his right from long-on to grab hold of the ball.

Coming to the crucial game, PBKS won the toss and elected to field first. They ended up conceding 203/6. Tilak and Suryakumar Yadav were the joint top-scorers for the Hardik Pandya-led outfit with 44 (29) and 44 (26), respectively. Naman Dhir's 18-ball 37-run cameo proved vital too.

Jamieson was the pick of the bowlers for PBKS. He conceded only 30 runs in his entire quota of four overs. Every bowler other than the Kiwi quick and Yuzvendra Chahal (1/39 in four overs) conceded at a rate of 10.00 or above. The winner of this contest will take on Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the final on Tuesday, June 3.
