Delhi Capitals (DC) have signed Mustafizur Rahman as Jake Fraser-McGurk has opted to leave from the remainder of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 due to personal reasons.

A lot of overseas cricketers are in doubt for the second phase of the league, and the Australia batter is among the first few to have pulled out of his plans to return to India. As a result, the left-arm medium pacer has now joined the Delhi franchise for INR 6 crore.

Mustafizur Rahman has so far played 57 IPL matches and has 61 wickets against his name. He has played 106 T20Is for Bangladesh, picking up 132 wickets from the same. Notably, the 29-year-old has represented the franchise previously as well - where he featured for the side in 2022 and 2023 editions of the cash-rich tournament. Apart from DC, the Satkhira-born has also plied his trade for successful franchises like Rajasthan Royals, Mumbai Indians, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Chennai Super Kings.

In his stint with CSK, he was fairly impactful for his 14 wickets in nine games, but had to leave home mid-way as there was a series of controversial calls between the franchise and the Bangladesh Cricket Board. Chennai lost a vital cog of their pace attack in the business end of the league stages and eventually were thrown out of the race for the playoffs that season.

DC to re-match with PBKS for suspended game

Meanwhile, IPL 2025 was suspended as the Match No. 58 between Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings at the HPCA Stadium, Dharamshala was called off due to rising cross-border tensions between India and Pakistan following the execution of "Operation Sindoor" by the Indian government. The Dharamshala game, which saw only 10.1 overs being bowled while PBKS were 122/1 at the stage, will now be started afresh. The match will now be played at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Saturday, May 24 in a rescheduled fixture.
