Royal Challengers Bengaluru emerged victorious by six wickets against Lucknow Super Giants in Match 70 of IPL 2025 to secure a second-place finish on the points table. This was the final league phase of the game.
Batting first, LSG lost Matthew Breetzke (14 off 12) early on before Rishabh Pant’s initiated his innings off to a rollicking start with an 18-run over off Yash Dayal. He brought up his second fifty of the seasonwith LSG racking up 100 runs for the loss of a wicket at the 10-over mark. A 152-run stand between Pant and Mitchell Marsh (67 off 37) kept the the runs flowing before the Australian departed in the 16th over. However, Pant carried on and powered through to a spectacular unbeaten 118-run knock off 61 balls. Playing his first game of the season, Nuwan Thushara (1/26 in fours) starred for RCB.
RCB got off to a sizzling start before losing Phil Salt (30 off 19) on the fourth ball of the powerplay. Will O’Rourke’s double strike in his second over sent back Patidar (14 off seven) and Livingstone (zero off one) in a span of two deliveries. Kohli (54 off 30) notched up yet another fifty of this season before falling victim to Avesh Khan. Jitesh Sharma replaced Kohli in the middle and turned the tide alongside Mayank Agarwal (41* off 23) with a blistering unbeaten knock of 85 off 33 balls (his highest IPL score). This was the third-highest score chased in IPL history.

1. Pant lights up Lucknow with dazzling century
Pant's knock included batting firepower of the highest order. His stunning innings, which comprised 11 fours and eight sixes, amounted to more than 50% of the runs scored by LSG at the end of 20 overs. Pant remained unbeaten at the end of his side's innings.


2. Kohli storms his way to fiery fifty
Kohli started off his innings in fine style with five fours in his first eight balls. He brought up his fifty with a wonderful punch through extra cover. His 54-run knock entailed a total of 10 fours. Kohli's innings laid the foundation for the steep run-chase for his side.


3. Jitesh puts on a show for the ages
The 85-run knock by Jitesh was the best he had ever batted in the IPL up until now. The six and four off consecutive deliveries off O'Rourke got him going early on in his innings. The manner in which Jitesh tackled the left-arm spin of Shahbaz Ahmed was just as commendable.
