Punjab Kings secured a five-wicket win with an over to spare against Mumbai Indians in Qualifier 2 of the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League. The Shreyas Iyer-led side will take on Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the all-important final at the same venue on Tuesday, June 3.
MI rode on efforts of Tilak Varma (44 off 29), Suryakumar Yadav (44 off 26), and Naman Dhir (37 off 18) to reach 203/6 at the end of 20 overs after opting to bat first. Kyle Jamieson (1/30 in four overs) was the standout bowler from PBKS.
In the chase, Iyer played a remarkable knock (87* off 41) to take his side home. Iyer was well supported by wicketkeeper-batter Josh Inglis (38 off 21), and former MI player Nehal Wadhera (48 off 29) contributed too. Jasprit Bumrah (0/40 in four overs) had an uncharacteristically off day while Ashwani Kumar (2/55 in four overs) proved to be the most expensive.

IPL 2025: Hilarious Reactions from PBKS vs MI, Qualifier 2
Key moments from PBKS vs MI, Qualifier 2 of IPL 2025:
1. Tilak-Suryakumar stand powers momentum beyond powerplay
Teams tend to slow down a bit during the middle phase of a game at this venue. However, Tilak and Suryakumar ensured their 72-run stand for the third wicket was forged at a more than decent clip.

2. Shoddy fielding hands MI bonus overthow runs
The final delivery of the 16th over of the first innings saw a comedy of errors which cost PBKS four additional runs. Hardik tapped the ball into the vacant midwicket region and immediately sprinted across for a twp. Wadhera's wild throw ended escaped the reach of the fielder who was there to back the attempt up.

3. Inglis pummels Bumrah for 20-run over
Bumrah's first over of the night was dispatched for 20 runs by Inglis, in what was a truly ferocious display of batting by the Australian. There were a total of four boundaries (two fours and two sixes) scored off MI's pace-bowling spearhead.

4. Iyer delivers captain's special to launch team to iconic win
Iyer led his side to a memorable victory by batting his skin out in a high-octane run-chase. Two standout moments from his scintillating performance was his assault of Topley in the left-armer's third over and the bashing of Ashwani in the penultimate over to seal the deal.
