South African pacer Gerald Coetzee will not be featuring for Gujarat Titans (GT) in their IPL 2025 game against Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Sunday, May 18. Before the break, GT had a good outing against Mumbai Indians (MI), winning a rain-affected thriller by three wickets off the last ball.

DC have had a momentum-less run of late. Their last completed game was against Sunrisers Hyderabad though it ended in a no result after rain did not allow any play in the second innings. Their next match at Dharamsala was the one abandoned midway though it will be replayed next weekend.

Toss Update

GT won the toss and elected to bowl first. Captain Shubman Gill stated that they will be looking to win not just this game but the remaining ones as well. Meanwhile, for DC, Axar also mentioned that they would have bowled first if they had won the toss. He also shared that the team is not bothering itself with the pressure of qualifying and they are taking each game as it comes.

Rabada comes back in, Coetzee out at GT; Mustafizur replaces Starc at DC

Gill revealed that Kagiso Rabada was back in the XI and that means Gerald Coetzee, who performed well in the last match, has to sit out. For DC, there are two changes - Vipraj Nigam replaces Madhav Tiwari and Mustafizur Rahman comes in place of Mitchell Starc who is unavailable.

What did the captains say?

Shubman Gill (GT)

We will bowl first. Not easy to start all over again, but good rest for our pacers, KG comes back, that's a positive for us. We've had a good run, but we have three games and we're looking to win all of them. That's the thing with every match, we have to start fresh, our fielding hasn't been the best, we've worked hard on it. We're hoping that everyone will come back and perform, looks like a good wicket, plenty ofhigh scores, just one change, Rabada comes back.

Axar Patel (DC)

We too wanted to bowl first, but we will now looks to post a good total. We're taking one game at a time, not thinking too far ahead, not thinking too much about qualificiation, just taking it one at a time. I respect his personal decision (on Mitchell Starc), but I want players to be 100% fit, just thinkabout the plans. The same combination - three pacers and three spinners, Vipraj Nigam replaces Madhav Tiwari, Mustafizur replaces Starc.
