IPL 2025: Why is Karim Janat not playing in GT vs SRH Match 51?

Karim Janat will miss out on featuring for Gujarat Titans in their clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Friday, May 2. GT would be aiming to secure a win to help their cause as far as the race for playoff qualification is concerned. A loss in this contest could most likely be the end of the road for SRH as far as their journey in IPL 2025 is concerned.

Toss Update

Pat Cummins won the toss and opted to field first. He admitted to not quite being able to operate as a team so far. However, Cummins was positive in putting on a good show. Shubman Gill disclosed that they would've bowled first too. Before disclosing the solitary change in his side, he revealed how the team wanted to take each game as it came.

Janat makes way for Coetzee, SRH unchanged

Gerald Coetzee came in for Janat to mark the only change for GT. The bowling all-rounder had an IPL debut to forget a few days back. He conceded 30 runs in the first and only over he bowled against Rajasthan Royals. Coetzee will be playing his first game this season. He has played a total of 10 IPL games in his career.

Pat Cummins (SRH)

We will have a bowl. You never really know what you will get. Sometimes, it is better to bat at night. We won our first game at CSK's venue. Hopefully, the trend continues here as well. If we win all our games, we still have a chance. We haven't quite clicked as a team. Last couple of games, we have done better. Same team.

Shubman Gill (GT)

We would have bowled first as well. Looks like a good wicket. Last game here, we played against Mumbai, we batted first as well. The season has been pretty good for us. Nothing changes for us. This is the time when good teams peak. We are not really looking at the NRR. We are looking to see each game as it is. We have one change. Gerald Coetzee comes in for Karim Janat.
