India will square off against the Netherlands in the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 on Thursday, October 27 at the Sydney Cricket Ground in Sydney. Both the sides are sweating it out in the practice sessions in order to fight hard for the two points from the fixture.

However, after one of the exhausting training sessions, team India were allegedly served cold sandwiches with fruits apart from falafel. Several players of the squad refused the offering and opted for meals in their hotel rooms instead.

Stuart Law speaks on India getting served cold food

Former Australia cricketer Stuart Law expressed his stance on the Indian players getting served cold sandwiches as he termed it to be ‘part of the tradition’. Law even went on to draw the contrasting hospitality present in the Asian subcontinent as compared with Australia.

“It’s traditional and part of the culture. We grew up on cold sandwiches in lunch time (laughs),” said Law on 'BatBricks7 presents Run Ki Runneeti show on CricTracker.

“I love the hosting in the subcontinent, not just India but everywhere you go, I mean Bangladesh have won four hosts. I get where you’re coming from, when you go to India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, you are looked after that royalty. That’s how the players are perceived in those nations,” said Law.

“In Australia, it’s not quite the same. Not taking anything away from how they were treated in Australia but that’s just how it is. To travel 42 kms, I wouldn’t be going to practice sessions. I don’t think missing one training session will impact their preparation, they know how to play their game,” he added.

The team management decided to rest all the fast bowlers while all-rounders Hardik Pandya along with Axar Patel and explosive batter Suryakumar Yadav too did not take part in the optional training session.
