India and Mumbai Indians' ace speedster Jasprit Bumrah has reported to the BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru ahead of the 2026 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), which gets underway on March 28.
According to reports, Bumrah has reported to the CoE in order to work on his strength and conditioning as he gears up for a fresh season of T20 extravaganza. The plan developed for Bumrah at the CoE by BCCI officials is done keeping in mind the white-ball series in England in July, where the Men in Blue are slated to play five T20Is and three ODIs.
Bumrah is said to be continuing bowling and is soon to join the MI camp ahead of their first game against the Kolkata Knight Riders on Sunday, as per a report by ESPNcricinfo.
Bumrah is coming off the back of an exceptional T20 World Cup campaign. With 14 wickets, the joint-highest in the tournament, Bumrah was India’s most reliable bowler as they went on to clinch their third T20 World Cup crown. His 1/33 in the semi-final against England dented their momentum in a mammoth chase of 254, while in the final, defending 256, Bumrah’s 4/15 broke New Zealand’s innings and saw India win.
With 186 wickets in the IPL, Bumrah has the second-most wickets for the Mumbai Indians in the IPL, the only franchise he has played for in the tournament. He is just nine wickets behind the legendary Lasith Malinga for the most wickets by an MI bowler. Picked up by the five-time champions in 2013 as a hot prospect with a unique action, it took him until 2015 to become a regular in the team, but since then there has been no looking back.
A debut for India came soon in 2016, and Bumrah now stands as India’s de facto leader of the attack across formats. Speaking of Mumbai Indians, the Hardik Pandya-led side will be hoping they have the Ahmedabad-born fit and raring to go for this season as they chase their sixth IPL crown, having won their latest back in 2020.
