The rewards for Jammu & Kashmir's Ranji Trophy 2025-26 title win have gotten sweeter, as the state's honourable Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has announced a cash reward of INR 2.00 crore for the triumphant side.
Abdullah took to his official social media handle and congratulated the team for winning their first-ever title in the history of India's premier red-ball domestic tournament. The team made its debut in Ranji Trophy 67 years ago, and after a prolonged wait, they not only made it to their first-ever finals but also beat Karnataka courtesy of a first-innings lead to script history.
"Congratulating Team J&K on their historic triumph in the Ranji Trophy, the Chief Minister announced a cash reward of ₹2 crore for the players and support staff after their emphatic victory over Karnataka on their home turf," Abdullah's CM office wrote on the official 'X' (formerly known as Twitter) handle on Saturday, February 28.
"Calling it a watershed moment for Jammu & Kashmir cricket, he said the landmark win has filled the entire region with pride and inspiration. The players will also be entitled to government appointments under the recently notified rules for outstanding sportspersons," the CMO stated further.
