Born on October 31, 1998, Sharma made his first-class debut on February 17, 2022, for Uttar Pradesh in the 2021-22 Ranji Trophy. He has since established himself as a key player in domestic cricket, combining his role as a right-handed batter and right-arm off-break bowler across formats.

"Being the captain of your state is an honour, but it also comes with great responsibility — to help your team win matches, contribute to the side, take it forward and lead it to the best of your ability," Sharma continued.

Beyond the Ranji Trophy, Sharma has made his mark in the UP T20 League, where he has been a standout performer. He has guided Kashi Rudras to two titles in the tournament and emerged as the highest run-scorer in the competition, establishing himself as a key figure in the state's shorter-format cricket. However, his domestic success did not translate into IPL selection, a disappointment that tested his resilience.

"I honestly do not know what happened or why I was not shortlisted for the IPL auction. I was surprised and disappointed because I was the highest run-scorer in the UP T20 League and still was not picked. But I am focused on doing what is in my control and continuing to perform," Sharma said.
