Even since he made his return from injury, KL Rahul has been a force to reckon with. He hit a magnificent century against Pakistan on Monday and on Tuesday, he played an impactful knock of 39 runs against Sri Lanka. He hasn’t shown any sign of rust and that’s a good sign for the national team ahead of the Asia Cup final and the upcoming ODI World Cup.
Lauding him for his incredible effort, former cricketer Harbhajan Singh mentioned that the 31-year-old is scoring runs in sublime fashion and added that it felt like KL Rahul was batting on some other pitch. Notably, the pitch was heavily assisting the spinners and the Indian batters were troubled by that but Rahul played his natural cricket and helped India post 213 runs on board, which helped the team win by 41 runs in Colombo.
“Ishan Kishan's partnership with Rahul was crucial. I hope I don't jinx it, but KL Rahul is playing really well. I hope he does not get injured or something. He is scoring runs in a sublime fashion and it did not look like he was playing on the same pitch as the other batters,” said Harbhajan on his YouTube channel.
Rohit Sharma looks in excellent touch ahead of the 2023 ODI World Cup: Harbhajan
Indian skipper Rohit Sharma hit three back-to-back half-centuries in the ongoing Asia Cup 2023 and that’s a positive sign for the team, ahead of the ODI World Cup to be played at home. He is playing an aggressive brand of cricket and giving a proper start for the middle order batters to capitalize. Talking about that, Harbhajan mentioned the cricketer has played brilliantly on a sluggish surface against Sri Lanka.
“Rohit Sharma played brilliantly on a sluggish surface and looks in excellent touch ahead of the 2023 ODI World Cup. He played well against Pakistan and now against Sri Lanka as well,” Harbhajan further added.
Meanwhile, India have already qualified for the finals of the competition and it will take on the winner between Sri Lanka and Pakistan on September 17. Ahead of that, the Men in Blue will play their final Super Four match against Bangladesh, on September 15.
