Karun Nair and KL Rahul opened up on the former's return to the Indian Test setup for the first time in over seven years. Nair has been named in India’s Test squad for the series against England, following the retirement of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Speaking about the opportunity, Nair said it felt special, and that he was grateful, fortunate, and looking forward to grabbing it with both hands.
Nair could not express his feelings in words and felt the need to experience it for himself. He said it would be a special feeling to get a chance to be back on the side. Nair last played a Test for India against Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2017.
"Feels very special, very grateful, and very fortunate to be able to get this opportunity again. I'm really looking forward to and excited to grab this opportunity with both hands. Not sure, actually. I think I will have to experience that feeling myself, and you know, just go out there and feel it for myself. And I'm sure there will be a lot of feelings, ones that I cannot express right now, and it will be a special feeling," Nair said in the video posted by BCCI.

'I know how hard and lonely it was for him' - Rahul on Nair's journey
Meanwhile, Karun Nair's teammate and long-time friend, KL Rahul, spoke about his return to the Indian side. He said he knew how hard Nair had worked to make his way back into the Test side by grinding it out at the County level. Rahul felt it was special for him, their friends, and family members, and hoped Nair's experience of playing in the UK would come in handy.
"I've known him for a very long time and the months he spent here in the UK playing cricket and how hard and lonely it was, for him to be able to do all of that and come back into the Indian team, I think it's special for him, for his family, and for friends like us, who have seen his journey," said Rahul.
"So, like I said, very inspiring as well, and hopefully his experience and learning from playing County cricket here will hold him in good stead when he plays Test matches here," he concluded.
