With the Big Bash League (BBL) player movement window now open until early February, the attention has quickly turned to some notable names on the Australia’s domestic T20 market, and Brisbane Heat are keen to keep one of theirs firmly.
Left-arm spinner Matthew Kuhnemann has made it clear he wants to remain with the Heat, even as his performances during the recently concluded BBL attract interest from rival clubs. Kuhnemann, who has impressed with his consistency on a batter-friendly Gabba wicket, taking nine wickets in his last campaign at an healthy economy of 7.68, is currently contracted through next season and is in line for an extension.
Unlike some other free agents, Kuhnemann can only move clubs via a trade or if he is released, but sources say several teams, including the Hobart Hurricanes, have expressed interest given the spinner’s recent form and all-round value.
The movement window’s opening has also highlighted other high-profile names. Aussie wicketkeeper batsman Josh Inglis, fresh off starring in the finale of the BBL 15, is expected to be in strong demand, with clubs like Sydney Thunder and Melbourne Renegades reportedly ready to make serious offers.
Meanwhile, seasoned leg-spinner Adam Zampa looks poised for a shift after likely playing his final season at the Melbourne Renegades. Zampa is understood to be eyeing a move closer to his home, with interest from sides such as the Sixers and Thunder as he weighs up his next Big Bash destination.
