Bangladesh all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz will not feature in the upcoming three-match T20I series against the Netherlands after taking leave from the national side to be with his unwell wife. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) confirmed on Tuesday that the 28-year-old has been granted leave from August 20 to September 4, ruling him out of the series that begins later this month in Sylhet.

The Netherlands series is seen as part of the team’s preparation for the Asia Cup 2025, which begins on September 9 in the UAE. The series against the Dutch is set to hold significance for squad testing and fine-tuning combinations.

"Mehidy took leave from August 20 to September 4 to be with his wife, as she is not keeping well. As a result, he is not flying to Sylhet for the skill camp ahead of the series against the Netherlands," a BCB official told as quoted by Cricbuzz.

The Netherlands team to arrive in Bangladesh on August 26.

Miraz had been part of Bangladesh’s fitness camp in Dhaka, which was to prepare players for both the Netherlands T20Is and the Asia Cup. His last international appearance came during Bangladesh’s T20I home series against Pakistan.

However, with the squad shifting to Sylhet on Tuesday evening for a skill-based preparation camp, Bangladesh will have to regroup quickly in his absence. The final squad for the series is yet to be announced, and his replacement is uncertain at this point.

Meanwhile, the Netherlands squad is expected to arrive in Bangladesh on August 26. They will undergo three training days in Sylhet before the series begins. All three matches will be played at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, with the first game scheduled for August 30, followed by games on September 1 and September 3.
