An Expert Committee of the Karnataka Government held a meeting on Friday, March 13, with the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) and the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). The objective of the meeting was to decide the way in which cricket would return to the M Chinnaswamy Stadium during the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
KSCA stated that while the discussions were fruitful, more updates on the matter are expected on Monday, March 16, in the evening.
"During the meeting, KSCA made a detailed presentation on the infrastructural upgradations/arrangements and safety measures undertaken at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, in line with the recommendations of the Expert Committee that are to be implemented under Phase-I of the compliance framework," a KSCA statement read.
"Representatives of RCB and their associated operational agencies also presented their preparedness and operational plans for the smooth and orderly conduct of the upcoming IPL matches," it added.
After the unfortunate stampede during RCB’s victory celebration, the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium has not hosted any match. Fans were waiting for a positive update from Friday’s meeting but they will have to wait a little longer.
