India would be desperately hoping to come out on top in the third and final One Day International against New Zealand at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch on Wednesday, November 30. The hosts are comfortably placed with a 1-0 lead as they registered a well-deserved seven-wicket win in the series openers and therefore, this is a match that India must win at all costs in order to level the series and sign off on a high.

The Men in Blue were denied of a chance to level the series as rain played spoilsport in the second ODI in Hamilton last weekend. Even though the contest eventually turned out to be a truncated one, no further play was possible after the 13th over of the first innings. With already three matches affected by rain in the series so far, here’s a look at the Christchurch weather ahead of the ODI series decider.

Rain once again expected to play a spoilsport in the decider

While this is a must-win encounter for the Indian team, there is indeed a bad news awaiting them as rain is once again expected to play a spoilsport in this key clash.

According to NZ’s MetService, the weather will be gloomy on Wednesday, November 30. While the rainfall is not expected during the day, there are chances of heavy showers in the evening, which means that the rain gods will make their presence felt in the second innings.

This can end up putting the side batting first in a spot of bother and would be a huge sigh of relief for the chasing side, as with the ball getting wet, the bowlers would be at a disadvantage. Moreover, should it turn out to be a truncated contest due to rain, it would be a big plus point for the team batting second.

Therefore, taking the wet outfield, DLS Method and the revised target into consideration, the captain winning the toss would want to bowl first.
