The mega clash between Pakistan (PAK) and India (IND) in the Super Four stage of the Asia Cup 2023 has been postponed to Monday, September 11, due to rain. A heavy shower stopped the game at 24.1 overs, and despite the downpour stopping after an hour, the game could not restart as the field was not ready for the restart.

The groundsmen worked tirelessly to begin the game as soon as possible and were close to achieving the feat, but unfortunately, the rain came pouring down again, and the umpires were forced to call off the day. The match will resume tomorrow at 3 pm IST, and India will bat the entire 50 overs.

Now, if the reserve day is also called off, the points will be divided among both teams. Pakistan have already two points after winning their match against Bangladesh in their last match, and if this match ends on level terms, they will add one more to the tally. India, who are playing their first game of the Super Four, will also collect one point.

Meanwhile, the Indian skipper Rohit Sharma and youngster Shubman Gill started really well as both openers hit their respective half-centuries to give India a perfect start. However, they could not capitalise as Shadab Khan and Shaheen Shah Afridi picked up their wickets in back-to-back overs. Despite this, India showed no sight of slowing down as the returning KL Rahul played some good cricket to re-establish India’s authority. Kohli, too, supported him well in the middle.

Their job on Monday will be to score as much as possible and help India remain in the driver’s seat. Shaheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf have not been able to deliver at their best in the match and will be hoping to get things back on track. When it comes to the weather, there once again is a massive chance of rain. Hence, another long day might await the fans.
