Shaun Pollock made a massive blunder during one of his commentary stints on Day 1 of the first Test between Pakistan and South Africa at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Sunday, October 12.
After the 39th over of the first innings, the former Proteas captain saw a fan holding a banner named ‘King Babar’ and expressed his disbelief at the fact that the crowd wanted their captain, Shan Masood, to be dismissed just to see Babar Azam bat. However, Pollock mistakenly called Masood the captain of India. A clip of this incident has gone viral on social media.
"There’s the reason why they were upset. I can’t believe they would want Shan Masood, the captain of India to be out in order just to get Babar to the crease. You need to have a word with some of these supporters,” said Pollock on commentary.

Masood was eventually dismissed in the 48th over after scoring a solid 76 off 147 balls. Prenelan Subrayen trapped the southpaw in front of the stumps. Babar came out to bat at No. 4 and gave himself time to settle in. Iman-ul-Haq (93) and Saud Shakeel (0) fell off consecutive deliveries, and the onus was on Babar to steady the ship. However, the former Pakistan skipper couldn't convert his start, as he got out to Simon Harmer for a 48-ball 23.

Pakistan batters dominate South Africa on opening day
From 161/1, the hosts had slumped to 199/5 as South Africa made a strong comeback. However, Mohammad Rizwan and Salman Agha rose to the occasion and forged an unbeaten 114-run stand to take Pakistan to Stumps on Day 1. The home side reached 313/5, with Rizwan and Agha batting on 62 and 52, respectively.
