Pakistan appoints Mickey Arthur as new Director of men’s cricket
Mickey Arthur will also be a part of the Pakistan coaching staff for the upcoming 50-over World Cup as well as the home series against West Indies and the tour to Australia.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has appointed former head coach Mickey Arthur, as the new Director of the Pakistan men's cricket team. The South African coach returns to the team just in time with the Asia Cup 2023 and the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023 around the corner.
In his new role, Arthur would be responsible for developing, implementing and supervising the tactics to be used by the Pakistan men's team. The 54-year-old will also be on the coaching staff for the 50-over World Cup in India as well as the home series against West Indies and the tour to Australia. He will be with the Pakistan team when they place their contention in the Asia Cup as well.
Arthur expressed his excitement at rejoining the Pakistan cricket team and underlined how keen he was to work with the team. He went on to say that Pakistan's team is talented and has the potential to be number one in all formats. He believes that he could improve their performances and get the best out of them in the future.
"I am absolutely thrilled to be rejoining the Pakistan cricket team and look forward to working with the group. Since moving on, I have kept a track of the players and their collective performances," Arthur said.
"This is a talented bunch with the potential to be number one across all formats and my endeavor is to put in place strategies and create an environment that can contribute in further enhancing their performances so that we can extract the best out of them," he added.

PCB chairman Najam Sethi also welcomed Arthur back into the coaching setup, stating that he was pleased that Arthur had rejoined the Pakistan men's cricket team in a more prominent role. He believes that the South African will put the lessons learned from his previous tenure into play and will have an even more successful second term.
“I am pleased that Mickey has formally rejoined the Pakistan men’s cricket team with an enhanced role in which he will be responsible for formulating and implementing strategies for the upcoming assignments across all formats," Sethi said.
"Having lived and worked in Pakistan during his previous tenure, Mickey knows the current players, the structure and the system at the back of his hand. I am sure he will incorporate learnings from the previous tenure so that he can have an even more successful second term," Sethi added.
